An indigenous community is at the heart of our story. Living high on the mountainsides of tropical montane forests, Rwandan families run their own small-scale farms. Using knowledge passed down through generations, these farmers meticulously tend to their coffee bushes throughout the year, planting and pruning to ensure a healthy harvest.

During the harvest season, they hand-pick each coffee cherry at the peak of ripeness. With each full basket, they begin the challenging journey of navigating steep, winding paths, carrying their harvest on their backs to the cooperative processing station. Here, the beans are sorted, processed, and dried, with employees bending over tables to turn the beans frequently, ensuring every single one receives the perfect amount of sunlight.

Once dried, the beans are hulled by employees to remove the parchment, revealing the fresh green coffee bean inside, before being meticulously graded and sorted through milling.

Unique to other brands, our beans are roasted directly within the community where they are grown. This is how we keep value, jobs, and opportunities right in the hands of the people who cultivated them. The fresh, roasted beans are then immediately packaged to seal in a flavor that is vibrant and true to its origin, capturing the unparalleled freshness and complexity of a bean just after harvest.
